Writer's Block: Hello, World!

My first memory was teething on our wooden clothes horse at the age of five months, watching Doctor Who. My teeth marks were visible all the way along the top bar, accessible from my highchair. My father still had that clotheshorse when I was twenty-one.

When I was about 15 months old I climbed out of my cot, crawled across the floor and rolled down every step of the stairs to the floor at the bottom. I remember sitting on the step next to my mum, screaming my head off while she cried in fear thinking I was seriously hurt. But I didn't have a cut, bruise or a scrape on me.

I remember the cot, too. It was cream with a deer with a butterfly on its tail at one end and Winnie the Pooh and Ee-ore at the other. It smelled funny too, probably because it was the old lead-based pain they had back then.

I should point out that I'm well over forty years old.
What is your earliest memory?

I have the emotional memory of my dad's old car. A midnight blue (with some metallic shimmer in the paint) Porsche. But I can't remember it with images. In fact, I have trouble remembering really early in my life. I get flickers of one home, but I can't tell you what happened first. :(
